5 days Sahara Discovery From Fez

After breakfast, depart Fes heading south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. The first stop is the charming town of Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its Alpine-style architecture. Continue to the cedar forest of Azrou, where you can see and feed the wild Barbary macaques. Drive through the stunning mountain scenery to the Berber town of Midelt, with a lunch stop in the village of Zaida. Continue past the town of Rich and Imilchil, famous for its lakes and tribal wedding festival, before reaching the spectacular Todra Gorge. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel at Todra.

After breakfast, explore the impressive Todra Gorge, a paradise for hikers and photographers. The journey continues towards the desert, passing through Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud, known for its fossils and date markets.

Arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes, and check in to a traditional desert riad or hotel. Relax and prepare for your desert adventure. Dinner and overnight in Merzouga.

After breakfast and a refreshing shower, set off on a 4x4 desert tour around the dunes. Visit the village of Khamlia, home to the Gnawa people, and enjoy their spiritual live music. Explore abandoned mines, desert oases, and meet nomadic families living in traditional tents.

Return to Merzouga for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, your camel caravan awaits to take you on an unforgettable ride through the dunes during sunset. Arrive at your desert camp nestled in the heart of the dunes. Enjoy dinner, music around the campfire, and a night under the starry Sahara sky.

Wake up early to witness the magical sunrise over the dunes. Ride camels back to Merzouga, have breakfast, and refresh. Depart towards Rissani, one of Morocco’s oldest cities and the cradle of the Alaouite dynasty. Explore the local market if time allows.

Continue driving through the lush Ziz Valley, famous for its thousands of palm trees. Cross the Middle Atlas Mountains again, arriving in Midelt for dinner and overnight at a hotel.

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Fes, passing through the cedar forest of Azrou with another opportunity to see monkeys. Continue to Ifrane, a peaceful mountain town known for its clean streets and Swiss-style houses.

Arrive in Fes in the afternoon, drop off at your hotel or riad. End of the tour.
